Dr. McCurdy was born and raised in Sacramento, California and has "grown up" with VCA as a part of her roots. At an early age, her family VCA veterinarian had such an impression on her, she knew that was what she wanted to do and chose that as her lifelong profession.
Dr. McCurdy has worked in the veterinary field as a Registered Veterinary Technician with a variety of VCAs since 2012. In 2012, she completed her undergraduate degree at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a bachelor's in Animal Science. In 2020, she graduated from St. George's University School of Veterinary Medicine in Grenada, earning her doctorate of veterinary medicine. Dr. McCurdy's professional interests are in dentistry, emergency and critical care cases, and nutrition. She is Fear Free Certified as well as RECOVER CPR and Global FAST.
Dr. McCurdy recently relocated here to Portland from Davis, California with her boyfriend, Dan, and their three furry babies. Ari is a 10-year-old Retriever mix and has been Dr. McCurdy's sidekick throughout her veterinary journey, from humble beginnings in Arroyo Grande, California, to the sandy beaches in Grenada for vet school and the snowy winter in Illinois for clinical rotation, and now taking on a new adventure in the Pacific Northwest. Dr. McCurdy has a knack for rescuing animals and welcoming them into her family, including Stitch, a 5-year-old Grenadian Pothound, and Kira, a 2-year-old black cat with white patches.
Dr. McCurdy spends her free time exploring her new neighborhood, hiking, crocheting, and baking.
