Dr. Kristen Kessler grew up in the east Pittsburgh suburbs and attended the University of Pittsburgh to earn her undergraduate degree in biology, with a minor in chemistry and religious studies. Dr. Kessler graduated in 2015 from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Kessler currently lives in Trafford with her husband, an urgent care physician and their newborn son Tyler. She is an avid runner, trying to participate in a race every month of the year. Dr. Kessler's other race events include the Pittsburgh half marathon, West Penn Trail Triathlon, and Tough Mudder. Dr. Kessler enjoys cheering on all of her Pittsburgh sports teams, especially the Pitt Panthers. She also enjoys traveling and relaxing at the beach. Dr. Kessler's professional veterinary interests include general nutrition and nutrition for disease management, internal medicine cases such as chronic kidney disease and diabetes, and urinary disorders. She is also interested in veterinary ultrasound and is working to improve her ultrasound skills. Dr. Kessler has also participated with Christian Veterinary Mission to provide veterinary care in Honduras, and she hopes to do more mission trips in the future.
