Dr. Elizalde was born and raised in Puerto Rico, where she attended the University of Puerto Rico and received her Animal Science Bachelor's degree. After collage, she worked in a dairy farm for one year until she decided it was time to complete her dream. Dr. Elizalde was in the middle of her applying process where hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico. Despite the unfortunate event, she got accepted at Ross University in St. Kitts, where she started in January 2018. She later attended University of Tennessee to complete her clinical year. Importantly, during this journey, her dog, Khaleesi, was always by her side.
She has a special interest in emergency medicine and soft tissue surgery, so during her summer externship in our hospital, she saw a good opportunity to become part of VCA Knowles Hospital family and to keep growing as a professional.
What she most like about her job is that veterinary professionals never stop learning and each case is like a puzzle where you need to put the pieces together for the final diagnosis, because animals do not talk. Mental health and balance are important for her, so out of the hospital she enjoys the beach, gardening, cooking, and to have fun with her dog.
