Dr. Michael J. Mazzei, originally from Michigan, attended both undergraduate and veterinary school at Michigan State University. He worked as a DVM (including here at VCA Loomis Basin) for several years before pursuing Internal Medicine. Dr. Mazzei went on to complete a three-year residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine at North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine, which he completed in 2007. He became a board-certified veterinary Internal Medicine Specialist, working in the Bay Area and most recently, Chicago. His professional interests vary, but he is particularly interested in Feline Medicine and Gastrointestinal Disease. 

In his spare time, Dr. Mazzei enjoys cooking, attending theater performances and concerts, playing tennis, and wine tasting. He has two kitties: Eva (aka Miss Meems), who he says is the most wonderful kitty on the planet, and Mr. Man, a very handsome but somewhat shy cat.
