Dr. Bruce was born and raised in rural Geauga County, Ohio. Dr. Bruce obtained his undergraduate degree in Business Finance from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Dr. Bruce attended The Ohio State University, College of Veterinary Medicine and received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2003.

Upon graduation from Ohio State, Dr. Bruce and his family relocated to Raleigh, North Carolina. In Raleigh, he practiced at a large, private, small animal hospital specializing in small animal medicine and surgery. In 2006 Dr. Bruce and his family returned to Ohio to purchase Northwood Animal Hospital in Springfield,Ohio. Dr. Bruce has been in Springfield since 2006. In 2019, Northwood Animal Hospital and Dr. Bruce partnered with VCA in effort to continue to grow the practice and provide the highest quality medicine to our patients.

Dr. Bruce is an active member of the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association. He and his wife, Linda, have 4 children, all of which attend or have graduated from Catholic Central High School in Springfield. The Bruce family also consists of 3 dogs: Montana, Vail, and Vegas; and 4 cats: Chunck, Frankie, Chester, and Kyrie.
