Amy Holford
Veterinary Specialist VMD, DACVIM

Dr. Amy Holford was born in Wilmington, Delaware, but spent most of her life in Pennsylvania. Knowing at a young age she wanted to be a veterinarian, she set out to do just that. She attended Delaware Valley University for her animal science focused undergraduate work and then went to veterinary school at the University of Pennsylvania, graduating in the class of 2000. Dr. Holford then did a rotating internship followed by an internal medicine internship at Garden State Veterinary Specialists. Next, she made her journey south to complete her residency in internal medicine at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. She stayed at the University of Tennessee for 18 years doing a combination of internal medicine, general medicine, teaching, and even working for three years part time at RIVER! Dr. Holford made the move to Chattanooga at the start of the pandemic and worked at Veterinary Care and Specialty Group doing emergency and internal medicine. She is excited to join the VCA RIVER family and bring internal medicine services to another location in Chattanooga. Dr. Holford values communication, the intensity of the cases and the dedication of their families. She especially loves geriatric medicine and endocrine diseases. In her spare time, you can find Dr. Holford loving on all of the animals on her mini-farm, taking her Bedlington boys on adventures around town, or out at a local restaurant.
