I have been working in the veterinary field for over 20 years and have been working at VCA Shelden for the past 13 years. I am a product of Bellarmine University and completed by DVM at Auburn University.
Though I grew up in Casey County, Kentucky on my family's farm, my wife, Michelle, is a Louisville native and we have a beautiful daughter, Maya, and two sons, Henry James and Arthur Thomas. And, even though I'm an Auburn alum, my true loyalty lies with THE Ohio State Buckeyes in all things sports.
I have dabbled in all sorts of critters but currently have one cat, Nacho, who patrols our property and ensures our garden is kept safe. We have a flock of chickens. I cannot start to tell you how much it fills my heart to see our kids collecting eggs and learning how to care for other living things.
VCA Shelden has provided me with a wonderful place to practice my passion. Developing relationships with my patients and their parents enriches this passion. Ultimately, I love preventive medicine and helping owners develop a stronger relationship with their pets. Keeping pets healthy (exercise, diet, lifestyle) not only helps our pets, but also helps their families. I feel very fortunate to be able to work with such well-loved members of people's families!
Our Fear Free approach has changed the world for so many families, including my own. I have completed the Elite certification in the Fear Free program and look forward to sharing this approach with all my families. Fear Free has helped us approach the mental health of our patients and has allowed us to provide more-complete wellness care for our patients. I look forward to sharing this information to help you further develop the relationships with your four-legged kids.
