Dr. Matthyssen attended Texas A&M University where she received both her BS and DVM degrees with honors. Following graduation, she completed an internship at the veterinary medical teaching hospital at the University of Missouri-Columbia. After practicing for a short time in San Antonio, Dr. Matthyssen purchased her own veterinary clinic in southwest Austin where she practiced equine and small animal medicine. We were very happy when she joined the VCA Tanglewood team in 2013 to focus on canine and feline medicine and her special interests which include ophthalmology, internal medicine and client education. Works keeps her very busy but in her free time she enjoys spending it with her husband and two kids, in addition to her cat, Pastrami, and her dogs, Dodge and Kubo.
