I'm Kaitlyn, but prefer to go by Katie. I've been with VCA since April of 2024. Prior to VCA, I worked at a different veterinary clinic for five years after I graduated from the veterinary technician program at Kirkwood Community College in May of 2019. I have two dogs and five cats. My very own petting zoo! In my spare time I love spending time with my son and husband. I also enjoy hiking with my dogs.

I have several reasons why I love working as a registered veterinary technician. My first reason is laboratory work. I enjoy seeing the little things, quite literally, that make up our pets. I also enjoy making connections with our clients and their pets. Watching their pets transform from puppies/kittens to adult animals, and coming into their personalities is awesome! Or seeing them do a complete 180 after being treated for an illness is amazing! Even being there for our patient's final moments with their owners. I could keep going with why I love veterinary medicine. I'm not one of those people who has known since they were little they wanted to work in veterinary medicine. What I can tell you is why I have stayed, and why I can't imagine doing anything else!
