Dr. Patricia Gillen is a native of Cincinnati. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan and began a teaching career that took her to the Washington, D.C. area. She continued to foster a life-long love of animals and enjoyed volunteering in various capacities at Smithsonian's National Zoo. After several fulfilling years of teaching middle school science, her love for both animals and science took her back to school. She earned a DVM degree from Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2015. Upon graduation, she worked at a small animal clinic in Northern Virginia where she gained valuable experience in general medicine and surgery with special interests in preventive care medicine and client education. She moved back to Cincinnati in 2017, thrilled for the opportunity to work with the exceptional staff, clients and pets of VCA Madeira Animal Hospital. Since returning to Cincinnati, Dr. Gillen has enjoyed spending time with family and friends and getting reacquainted with her hometown. She has a crafty cat named Dodge and a goofy black Lab named Goby. In her spare time, she likes to read, go to concerts and travel.
