Our services include preventive wellness and sick care, early disease detection and vaccines, parasite control, internal medicine, laser therapy, spay and neuter, dentistry, digital x-rays, soft tissue surgery, microchipping, along with various wellness plans for pets of all ages and Home Delivery Services. We carry a variety of pet food like Hill's and Royal Canin Prescription Diets.
We are also the exclusive vet for the San Diego Police Department, California Highway Patrol, National City Police Department, Bureau of Land Management, Department of Parks and Recreation and San Diego Unified School District Police Department. We have a close relationship with the City of San Diego SPCA, Animal Humane Society, Southern California German Shepherd Rescue, Baja Rescue and PAWS of Coronado.
VCA Main Street Animal Hospital is also an AAHA (American Animal Hospitals Association) accredited hospital since 1954, making us one of the finest hospitals in the industry. Established in 1933 by veterinary leaders, AAHA sets “The Standard in Veterinary Medicine” by helping other veterinary professionals effectively deliver the best in animal care.
Being an AAHA-accredited hospital means that we are evaluated on approximately 900 standards of veterinary excellence every three years. These standards address a variety of issues related to both patient care and the facility, including exam facilities, dental care, diagnostic imaging, and cleanliness.

Founded in August 2006, SCGSR consists of a dedicated team of volunteers. SCGSR rescues, rehabilitates, provides spay/neuter and veterinary care, and re-homes pets in Southern California. SCGSR has rescued and placed over 900 animals. Our rescues include German Shepherds, Great Danes, Poodles, many mixed breeds, cats and kittens, a chicken, and even a boa constrictor.
