Associate Veterinarian
DVM
Dr. Balboa was born in Atlanta, GA, but considers herself a native Tennessean, as her family moved to Nashville when she was a toddler and she has remained in Tennessee for most of her life.
Growing up, she had a love for helping injured animals and began her first job in a kennel at 16-years-old. After high school, she briefly pursued marine biology before switching paths and became a licensed Veterinary Technician. During that time, she also made the decision to pursue vet school. She graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996. GO VOLS!
She has spent time during her career practicing in emergency medicine, general practice, and pharmaceuticals, as well as a Public Health Veterinarian with USDA. General practice is where her true heart lies and she is excited to be joining our team as Medical Director.
She shares her home with her husband, Robert, and her Rocky Top bound son, Zach, who will be joining The Pride of the Southland Band this fall. Her family also includes 2 rescue cats, Pixel and Freddie Mercury, and 3 very diverse dogs: Rey (Dutch/German Shepherd), Nodie (Golden Retriever), and Clare (Cavalier King Charles).
She enjoys anything involving the outdoors, especially if there is a body of water involved, and the occasional round of golf.
