Local Medical Issues
There are numerous local medical issues that can impact your pet's health, and that require your attention over the entire year. For example, there's heartworm, which can affect both cats and dogs. Since it's transmitted by mosquitoes, which thrive in our region, it's a serious cause for concern.
Likewise for the potential for flea and tick infestation, or intestinal parasites each of which poses a problem in any season.
And finally, contrary to what you'd expect, allergies are a year-round issue. Many pets suffer from skin and ear allergies, the signs of which include scratching, redness in the ears and scaly skin.

New Leash on Life Rescue
New Leash on Life Dog Rescue is a foster based dog rescue based out of the La Crosse, WI area. We are committed to rescuing dogs of all ages, sizes, and breeds. We work with local shelters, take local owner surrenders, as well as rescue dogs from high kill shelters in other states. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that is run completely by volunteers. We operate solely on adoption fees and donations. Every donation counts and helps us to feed and provide medical care to the dogs in our rescue.
