Hometown Care at VCA Sand Lake Animal Hospital

At VCA Sand Lake Animal Hospital, we look forward to being there for all the furry members. Our offices serve the dogs and cats of Onalaska, LaCrosse, West Salem, LaCrescent, Holmen, Galesville, Trempealeau, and other surrounding areas! Our veterinary hospital has been proudly serving the families and pets of the coulee region community for over 30 years.

Our veterinary hospital provides state-of-the-art medical services like wellness exams, preventative care, vaccines, diagnostic services, spay/neuter, advanced soft tissue surgery, pet dentistry, and nutritional consults.

Our staff strives to create a relationship with you and your pet the moment you walk through our doors. We believe our technician and reception teams are an integral part of your experience at our hospital, which is why they have the knowledge and experience to answer questions, share their education, and act as a direct link to our veterinarians.

The VCA network gives us access to local and nationally recognized specialists, so your pet receives the highest quality health care. Through education, communication, and preventative medicine, we work to give your family and long and healthy life together.

Local Medical Issues

There are numerous local medical issues that can impact your pet's health, and that require your attention over the entire year. For example, there's heartworm, which can affect both cats and dogs. Since it's transmitted by mosquitoes, which thrive in our region, it's a serious cause for concern.

Likewise for the potential for flea and tick infestation, or intestinal parasites each of which poses a problem in any season.

And finally, contrary to what you'd expect, allergies are a year-round issue. Many pets suffer from skin and ear allergies, the signs of which include scratching, redness in the ears and scaly skin.

The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) sets the standard for quality veterinary care for companion animals. As an accredited hospital, we voluntarily uphold the Association's high standards in 18 different areas and are routinely evaluated on over 900 different standards of veterinary care. Not all animal hospitals are accredited, and we are proud to be amongst only 12-15% of veterinary hospitals that hold this honor.
