Dr. Koirala achieved her childhood dream of becoming a veterinarian in 2007 after graduating from the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University. "I have always envisioned myself as the 'other' family doctor; helping animals throughout all their life stages and with all health issues big and small.”
Dr. Koirala grew up in Southern California and received her B.S. degree in Psychobiology from the University of Southern California. After veterinary school, she completed an internship in Emergency and Critical Care at the New England Animal Medical Center in Massachusetts. For two years after the internship, Dr. Koirala worked as a relief veterinarian, helping other veterinarians throughout Eastern/Central Massachusetts to have much needed time off. It was during this time that she first worked at Sterling Veterinary Clinic (now known as VCA Sterling Animal Hospital). Dr. Koirala then had the opportunity to go home to California and practiced there for seven years before life brought her back to Massachusetts in 2018. “Returning to Sterling Animal Hospital feels a little like coming back home.”
Dr. Koirala now lives in Sudbury with her husband, two boys, and her Sphynx cat, Calypso. In her free time she enjoys camping, cooking, and watching old Kung Fu movies. She has a special interest in preventive medicine, dermatology, and dentistry.
