Dr. Thorud is a University of Oregon alumni and received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Oregon State University. She completed a post-graduate rotating internship here in New Mexico and fell in love with this great region. After practicing on the West Coast in both Emergency and General Practice for several years, she made her way back to the Albuquerque sunshine. She is Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP) in canine and feline practice and is a founding fellow in emergency medicine. ABVP certified veterinarians are among a very small group, fewer than 900, in the US and abroad. ABVP Diplomates choose to undergo a long and difficult process of additional studies and examination to become board certified specialists recognized by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).
Outside of work, Dr. Thorud is an avid audiobook listener and outdoor explorer who enjoys spending time hiking with her husband and dogs in the beautiful areas around the state.
