Dr. Sung was born and raised in New York City. He attended Hunter College High School in the upper East side of Manhattan. He graduated cum laude from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell University in 2011 and from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University in 2015. He finished a one-year rotating internship program at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital in Tinton Falls, NJ, in 2016. Afterwards, he completed a one-year surgical internship program, followed by a three-year surgical residency program at Long Island Veterinary Specialists in Plainview, NY. He became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2021. Since then, he had been practicing in a specialty center in Rochester, NY.
Dr. Sung's professional interest include orthopedic, soft tissue, neurologic and minimally invasive surgery. He has been published in topics about cranial cruciate disease, bone cancer, and gastrointestinal surgery. He has worked as a race veterinarian a the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race in Alaska. He is currently the chair-elect of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons Public Outreach Committee.
Having been East Coasters their entire life, he and his wife are excited to escape the cold and experience the Southern California lifestyle. They look forward to spending time at the beach, the mountains and wine country with their three dogs. With favorable flying conditions, Dr. Sung hopes to finally earn his private pilot license. Most importantly, he looks forward to providing a high level of surgical care to the dogs and cats of Southern California.
