Gretchen joined us in 2019 after spending nearly six years at MSPCA Angell Animal Medical Center, where she worked her way up from a Primary Care Attendant in the boarding facility to an Inpatient Services Lead Technician. Prior to her employment at Angell, Gretchen earned her AS in Veterinary Technology and BS in Veterinary Science from Becker College, where she also worked as a kennel supervisor. She is a Fear Free™ Certified Professional.
Gretchen has completed internships at both Southwick's Zoo and the Worcester EcoTarium. These experiences, combined with time spent caring for exotic species at Angell, have given her a great affinity for "little critters". She is excited to further her knowledge working with the pets at VCA Wakefield.
Gretchen and her wife, Kara, live north of Boston. They share their home with a sassy and sweet mixed-breed dog named Kit and a spunky and sleek black shorthair cat named Oz. When she's not working, Gretchen enjoys hunting for sparkly gems on field trips with the North Shore Rock & Mineral Club. She also frequents Nahant Beach, where she can be found metal detecting in the sand, riding her scooter on the sidewalk, or boogie boarding in the waves.
