Joy is our Hospital Referral Coordinator. She started with VCA Emergency Animal Hospital & Referral Center in 1999; the same year she graduated from the RVT program at Los Angeles Pierce College and moved to San Diego. 

Joy worked in the Internal Medicine Department for many years before moving into a Client Service role in 2020. She spent 2 years working with the front desk team and developed a passion for enhancing communication between pet owners and the medical team. The role of Hospital Referral Coordinator allows Joy to expand on that communication and work with the referring veterinarians in the San Diego area as well as engage with pet owners at various events outside the hospital.

Joy is a photographer/videographer in her spare time and has worked on several film projects including music videos, web series, and feature films. She also enjoys camping, cycling, and spending time with friends and family. Her favorite companions are her husband Eddie and their Border Collie, Louka. Joy also has two bearded dragons, Albus and Tonks, a rescued red-eared slider turtle, Mandy, and a crested gecko named Wrex.
